Desativados na década de 1950, as torres hoje são ruínas que se assemelham a um cenário ficcional, onde o passado decadente tenta vencer a corrosão do mar e do tempo.
Sci-fi and political issues are intertwined in Red Sand (2013). Romy photographs the steel platforms that belong to Maunsell Forts, a set of three similar fortifications built by the engineer Guy Maunsell, in 1942 to provide the British Army military support during World War II. Put off operation in the 1950s, the towers are now ruins similar to a sci-fi setting, where the decadent past attempts to overcome the corrosion of sea and time.
