Mega Hair
Aerated concrete and synthetic hair fiber · 2026
Mega Hair resumes an investigation begun in Scientific Amusements (2015), a series in which Romy Pocztaruk constructed photographic situations out of improbable approximations between objects and materials.
In Concreto Armado, hair and concrete appeared together under the name of a construction technique: the literal encounter between a material associated with weight, rigidity and permanence and another linked to extension, movement and transformation.
More than a decade later, this relation leaves the field of photography and takes on body in space.
Blocks of manually molded aerated concrete are combined with synthetic hair fibers through extension and braiding techniques.
The concrete loses its apparent stability and comes to depend on the fibers; the hair ceases to act as adornment to become structure, connection and constructive force.
The work imagines these elements as fragments of a civilization after the human.
